CTA Monthly Note for May 2019

This blog post covers what the UNDP-GEF Kura II Project has accomplished during May 2019 and what are the plans for June 2019
In May we have:
- Presented the topic of “Water Resources and Different Aspects of Water Resources Management” at the Baku Idea Lab, local NGO platform as part of Stakeholder Awareness Raising activities
- Recruited the Mid-Term Evaluator (UNDP IRH to recruit)
- Participated at the Project Steering Committee Meeting of IW:LEARN Project in Geneva, to represent GEF International Waters Project Managers views to the stakeholders and PSC members
- Conducted 2nd block of Hydrological Modelling Training in both countries
- Arranged meeting with the International Water Supply and Demand Management Expert and Stakeholders to develop Table of Content of the Guideline of conductive use of surface and ground water resources management in both countries
- Hired the UNDP-GEF Kura II Regional Communications Manager, Ms. Sona Guliyeva
- Awarded 3.1. Rational Water Use in Municipal Sector RfQ in Gori, Georgia and have a kick off meeting
- Developed ToRs for National Firms to assess the main polluting sources in Azerbaijan and Georgia
- Announced RfQ for 3.3. Stress Reduction demo project in Hajigabul, Azerbaijan
- Participated the meeting with Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture for 3.3 Stress Reduction demo project in Khashuri (and officially approve the MEPA the Constructed Wetland project in Khashuri too)
- Developed and announced ToRs for IGRAC
- Prepared regional assessment report on the groundwater in Alazani-Ganikh aquifer in cooperation with IGRAC
- Host meeting with the International Expert Tom Stafford and Stakeholders to identify Law Enforcement in both countries
- Conducted sampling, data collection and analysis of the Regional Working Group on Shared Water Quality Indicators in Azerbaijan and Georgia
- Developed TORs for the National Communications people
- Joined to the meeting organized by the MENR to ensure the cooperation between the international development projects
- Worked on communications strategy
In June we will:
- Co-facilitate Georgia Tourism Awards Conference
- Conduct the final block of the Laboratory Quality Management training along with the Hands-on experience in the field in both countries
- Publish one experience note on Junior Experts program with the IW:LEARN
- Hold the kick off meeting for output 3.2 Pre-feasibility studies for select pollution abatement plans in Georgia
- Finalize ITB for output 3.3. River restoration projects for improved ecosystem health using integrated flow management in Azerbaijan

- Announce RfQ for output 5.1. Improved assessment of groundwater and surface water based on IGRAC’s assessment report
- Arrange another field trip for sampling, data collection and analysis of the Regional Working Group on Shared Water Quality Indicators in Azerbaijan and Georgia
- Hire the Project Officer for Baku, Azerbaijan Office
