Opening of the Drip Irrigation Site in Saatly
On 24 September, UNDP-GEF Kura II project had the opening of its demo project on 3.1. Rational Water Use in Agriculture Sector in the Jafarkhan village of Saatli, Azerbaijan.
Overall the project works with 3.5 ha area. 2.5 ha is used for cotton fields and 1 ha for the fruit trees; half of each crop areas is irrigated with the traditional way and half with drip irrigation. The Kura II plans to conduct cost-benefit analysis afterwards. Within this demo project, the Kura II project partners up with the Amelioration JSC and MENR.
