The meeting objective was to initiate a dialogue between the experts in Georgia and Azerbaijan to agree on the list of water quantity and quality indicators that can be shared between the two countries in the Kura river basin, for this information to form the basis for developing an annual state of water report in the Kura basin in both Azerbaijan and Georgia.

The participants, chaired by Dr. Mary Matthews, Kura II Chief Technical Advisor and Regional Project Coordinator, and Mr. Ahmed A. Elseoud, Senior Capacity Building Expert UNDP/GEF Kura II project, covered issues, such as challenges in water resources management information sharing nationally and regionally, made an overview of the Shared Environmental Information System Project (SEIS), and discussed common and specific water quality and quantity indicators between the two countries.
