River Restoration Meeting I 18 September 2017
The River Restoration Consultation Meeting, held on 18 September 2017 in UNDP/GEF Kura II Tbilisi Training Center, was dedicated to the planned activity of carrying out a small-scale river restoration pilot project, which can later be replicated on a larger scale.
The consultation meeting covered the baseline situation in the Kura basin in Georgia, reviewed the criteria for choosing restoration sites in Georgia, including the discussion of possible sites as the locations for Kura II demo project.
The meeting was facilitated by Dr. Mary Matthews, Kura II Chief Technical Advisor and Regional Project Coordinator, Mr. Ahmed A. Elseoud, Senior Capacity Building Expert UNDP/GEF Kura II project, and Eliso Barnovi, Kura II National Expert.
Attendees included representatives from Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia, National Environmental Agency, water companies, Kura II team members and experts.
