Series of Presentations on Kura Box, Comics Book and Rational Water Use for School Children followed by Concert of “Simurg” festival participants

Baku, February 19, 2021 – series of Presentations on Kura Box, Comics Book and Rational Water Use for schoolchildren takes place in Baku Book Center.
Within the framework of the event, a presentation of the "Kura Box" learning toolkit and a collection of "Water Savers" comics was held. Published in Azerbaijani, Georgian and English, these tools will be distributed in various secondary schools in the country. The tools are available in both digital and printed form. The event was organized by the UNDP-GEF Kura II project, Arts Council Azerbaijan NGO, Baku Book Center and Simurg Children's Music Festival with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The event, hosted by Sona Guliyeva, Regional Communications Manager of the United Nations Development Program's Kura II project, was attended by the students from IB Baccalaureat of Education Complex 132-134. The children were informed about the need for rational use of water. It was noted that population growth, development of industry and agriculture lead to a sharp increase in water demand. Water shortages have been felt in many parts of the world in recent decades. Precipitation has decreased in Azerbaijan, which has affected the water level in rivers. Climate change has also affected the water level in the Kura River. At the end of the event, participants of the annual "Simurg" children's music festival, led by pianist Saida Tagizade, performed a small concert program. Then the children were presented with certificates.
