Mary M. Matthews – Chief Technical Advisor and Regional Project Coordinator
Dr. Mary M. Matthews is the Chief Technical Advisor and Regional Project Coordinator for the UNDP-GEF International Waters Kura II Project: Implementing IWRM Across the Kura River Basin. Since 2001 she has served as stakeholder analyst, policy strategists, institutional expert, socio-economic expert, project manager, project regional coordinator, and multiple other roles in Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean for UNDP-GEF, UNEP, EU, World Bank, and bilateral donors.
Ahmed Abou Elseoud – Project Senior Capacity Building Coordinator
Ahmed has over 28 years of experience in all aspects and phases of water resources and environmental management. He graduated in 1983 from the faculty of Engineering Cairo University as civil engineer and got a MSC in water and environmental Engineering in 1994 from Utah state university, USA. Then he got a professional Diploma in Environmental Engineering from the American University in Cairo in 1999.
Sona Guliyeva – Regional Communications Manager
Sona has taken part in a number of project activities mainly of United Nations Development Program (UNDP). She got Bachelor degree on Interpreting and Translation from the Azerbaijan State University of Foreign Languages and Masters from Peoples Friendship University of Russian Federation.
Maia Ochigava – Project Finance and Administration Associate
Maia is trained in environmental management and policy and has over the past 22 years she has worked in the Governmental, NGO, International NGO, International Companies and International Donor sector. Her work has included providing support to international ozone projects, Black Sea and Kura River Basin management projects, building public awareness through environmental educations and community building.
Hajar Huseynova – Regional Project Analyst
Hajar has worked as a Researcher at the Caspian Center for Energy and Environment of ADA University specializing in renewable energy, water-energy nexus, Azerbaijan's water potential and other environmental issues in the country.
Elchin Mammadov – Project National Coordinator for Azerbaijan
Elchin graduated from Baku State University earning his degree in 1998 on Biology and Chemistry. He did postgraduate studies in 1999 – 2001 at the Institute of Zoology of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and earned his Ph.D. in Ichthyology and Hydrobiology. He also earned degree on World Economy from the Azerbaijan State University of Economy.
Maka Julaqidze – Project National Coordinator for Georgia
Maka Julaqidze is a national coordinator for the UNDP-GEF International Waters Kura II Project: Implementing IWRM Across the Kura River Basin. She has graduated from Tbilisi State University and got Master’s degree in Law.
Lana Manjgaladze – Project Officer for Georgia
Lana was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, and lived in Istanbul, Turkey for around 16 years. Lana has completed her secondary education at the British International School in Istanbul and graduated with a degree in International Relations from Istanbul Bilgi University and University of Portsmouth, having successfully completed her thesis on the role of UNESCO in global world order.
Ilaha Ibrahimova – Project Officer for Azerbaijan
Ilaha Ibrahimova is the National Project Officer for the UNDP-GEF International Waters Kura II Project. She has graduated from Azerbaijan State Economics University obtaining her degree on International Relations. She is very much familiar with admin/logistic and finance related work environment.
