Mary M. Matthews – Chief Technical Advisor and Regional Project Coordinator
Dr. Mary M. Matthews is the Chief Technical Advisor and Regional Project Coordinator for the UNDP-GEF International Waters Kura II Project:Â Implementing IWRM Across the Kura River Basin. Since 2001 she has served as stakeholder analyst, policy strategists, institutional expert, socio-economic expert, project manager, project regional coordinator, and multiple other roles in Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean for UNDP-GEF, UNEP, EU, World Bank, and bilateral donors.
She has worked with EIAs, SEAs, and environmental project design, development and implementation. Her background in social sciences combined with environmental sciences, mediation, and political economy make the unique challenges of GEF International Waters especially intriguing for her as a mean to build critical transboundary cooperation.
